There are routine flights that get you here and many promotional offers too, so keep your eyes open for those. Fly on the Tame or Aerogal, they’re one of the best airlines where the Galapagos experience is felt during flight. Flights to the Island-wonder usually leave from Quito and Guayaquil. Only one checked suitcase (44 lbs or 20kg) and one carry-on bag are allowed, so be sure to pack properly.

It’s an Equatorial island, so pack sun screens, swim wear and sturdy slippers/sandals. Take plenty of photo film or battery recharges for your video cam.

The climate is perfect all year. The Galapagos Islands have what’s called a High Season and a Low Season. The months of April/May and September/October fall into the latter, when you’ll find less people heading there and the boat fares cheaper. If the former is your preference, book boats in advance. They add incredible experience-value, so don’t underestimate their importance.

Let’s talk wildlife. The sea birds here are numerous and they have curious breeding patterns. You can observe this in the Albatross that flies in from all around to the Espanola Island to stay for the rest of the year.
