Preah Vihear, Cambodia
Preah Vihear is an attractive town that is quite an extensive one spreading in the northern province here in Cambodia.
Preah Vihear Temple
With its capital at Phnom Tbeng Meanchey, this place is named after the temple of Prasat Preah Vihear which was built by King Yasovarmamn I in the 6th century. According to history, it took 300 years of planning and advice before completing this spiritually oriented temple, standing in the area bordering Thailand and Cambodia. The peaceful beauty of Preah Vihear is offset by the logging industry responsible for felling huge tracts of forests with no re-planting plans set up. Nonetheless the town has plenty of historical and religious importance, not to mention political and natural resource value.
