Poas Volcano Trivia
With a crater that’s a mile in diameter and filled with rain-fed sulfur pools still bubbling and giving off smoke, Paos Volacano possesses a very ominous aura indeed even though it was in 1910 that it last erupted. Geysers still blast up to ease the pressure build-up, sometimes attaining more than 800 feet in height. Such activity makes Paos one of the world’s largest active volcanoes. Around the primary crater you’ll catch sight of the lovely Botos Lake with the von Frantzius cone standing on the other side.
