Plaza de Armas, also referred as Plaza Mayor, is the central site of the capital of Peru, Lima and it is the main square of the city.

On the north of the square, you will find the Government Palace, built in 1535. On the rest of the sides, Cathedral of Lima, Archibishop’s Palace, Municipal Palace and Palace of Union are situated. All of the buildings are great examples of the traditional downtown architecture. The visitors of Plaza de Armas are allowed to enter the Cathedral where several pieces of artwork are exhibited. The Cathedral of Lima is open till 5 pm and the entrance fee is $1.50 with a discount applying for students and children.
