Pico Turquino, Cuba
Reaching almost 2 km above the sea level, Pico Turquino is Cuba’s highest peak, situated in the Sierra Maestra Mountains.

Since walking up the peak takes only 2-3 days and requires no special skills, area surrounding the mountain has become a popular hiking destination. Pico Turquino national park has been established in the region and it includes several other mountains such as Pico Cuba and Pico Sueca. Hiking trails lead the hikers through some of the most amazing scenery – from tropical and rain forests to panoramic views on other peaks. Various bird species can be observed in the area as well.
