Paso Internacional Los Libertadores
Paso Internacional Los Libertadores (also known as Cristo Redentor), one of the scariest and busiest roads in the world is the main transport route between capital city Santiago in Chile and Mendoza city in Argentina. The view of the highest peak in South America, Mount Aconcagua and the long series of switchbacks below is absolutely spectacular which makes the ride worth the effort.
While on the Argentine side the road is pretty slow and the slope is gentle until you reach a tunnel, Chilean side slope is far steeper and the road descends down a series of steep switchbacks to make the descent. Every year thousands of tourists drive up and back to enjoy the view of South America’s highest peak and the series of switchbacks that look like hairpins.
Mount Aconcagua, a nearby Attraction
The main attraction around the area is the mountain Aconcagua, one of the seven summits and the highest peak in South America. The mountain has many glaciers and is great for mountain climbing.
