Lake Tana Attractions
It is the source of Blue Nile that partly explains the link between the locals Ethiopians and the ancient Egyptians. However, the monasteries, built on the islands from medieval times till the 18th century, are the main attractions for the visitors of the lake. More than 20 of them have remained there till today. Ura Kidhane Mihret might be the most stunning of them. Daga Istafanos and Tana Chirkos are also wonderful examples of local monastery building traditions.
