Ha’apai, Tonga

A combination of over 50 islands make up Ha’apai but only seventeen of the islands are inhabited. The smallest island measures in at less than a hectare, whereas the largest isn’t even eighteen square miles. With little of the islands actually being built-up, only four of the islands have electricity.

Those who appreciate history and know the story of Captain William Bligh and the mutiny that much of his crew executed on his ship, the HMS Bounty, will be intrigued to know that the mutiny took place very near Tofua, one of the islands in Ha’apai.
