Great Ocean Road, Australia
Ranked #2 in Australia Tourism
Great Ocean Road is a scenic route if there ever was one! Basically a war memorial along a 150-mile stretch of road, starting in Torquay and ending near Warrnambool, this road is dedicated to the World War I casualties.
Great Ocean Road Attractions
It is a two-lane, winding road that keeps the coast in sight and bypasses many significant landmarks. Twelve Apostles – limestone stacks that stand in the ocean – and the Loch Ard Gorge – just minutes away – are two of the landmarks able to be seen along the course of this road. Though each is a byproduct of erosion, what’s left is a fascinating sight.
