The Eiffel tower is probably the most famous object in Paris, which undoubtedly has become a symbol of the whole city. With the height of 300 meters, it is the highest building in Paris and it held also the world record until 1930. The tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel and it was built between 1887 and 1889 in honor of the anniversary of the French revolution and the Exposition Universelle that took place in Paris at that time. In the very beginning, the French themselves were not too fond of the new tower as they thought it was ruining the panorama of the city. Writer Guy de Maupassaint claimed that he was regularly dining at the tower’s restaurant just because it was the only place in Paris where the tower would not be visible. Later Eiffel tower gained its acknowledgment and the scene of Paris is unimaginable without it now.

Another extremely famous object is Louvre. With 35 000 pieces of world’s most famous artwork, it is undoubtedly also world’s most visited museum. It is located in the Palace of Louvre which was built in 1190 and as it covers the area of 60 000 sq. meters, it is basically impossible for a person to see all the expositions. However, most of the tourists usually come to see Egyptian, Greek art and artwork of famous painters like Vermeer, Rubens, Delacroix. The most renowned object in the museum, of course, is probably the world’s most famous and mysterious painting- Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

France is home for many masterpieces of gothic architecture. Notre Dame Cathedral is the most recognized among world’s gothic buildings and therefore it is a must-see object when visiting Paris. Completed in the 14th century, it has amazed the society throughout the centuries with its stunning towers, stained glass and numerous sculptures, especially gargoyles- sculptures of mythological creatures and animals, used for conveying the rainwater away from the roofs.

The Triumph Arc is another symbol of the city. It was built in 1806 by the Imperator Napoleon to celebrate the military power of the French. The arc is located at the Champs- Elysees (the Elysian fields)- Paris’ the most famous street which has gained its reputation as a place where the lovers meet and it also offers numerous shops, restaurants etc and is another place that has to be visited during the Paris trip.
