Canaima National Park is situated only 50 kms from the Canaima village where you can get regular flights to this popular tourist destination. Although there is much to see in Canaima, most of the tourists visit the park because it is the gateway to the Angel Falls. A great variety of animal and plant species can be found in the area such as poison arrow frogs, jaguars, porcupines, king vulture, various types of orchids and many others. In 1994, Canaima National Park was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is a superb hiking and trekking destination. Camping facilities are offered to the guests that have decided to spend more than just one day in this stunning site. Canaima is definitely a place worth staying at least for 2 days or even more.
