Burg Eltz Castle, Germany
Ranked #2 in Famous German Castles. Burg Eltz Castle is a family owned castle on the left bank of Rhine River. Interestingly some part of the Burg Eltz is still used by Kempenich family (a branch of the founding family) while the part owned by Rübenach and Rodendorf families is open to public viewing. The Burg Eltz is one the few castles that was never destroyed even partially through years of war.

Visiting Burg Eltz
Burg Eltz castle is literally in the middle of nowhere. If you are going by car just follow Google Maps. It is located in a small town called Koblenz which is about 1 hour by car or 45 mins by train from Cologne (which leave every hour).
There are not many options to stay. There is a hotel by the station which is a decent choice and Burg Eltz castle is walking distance. Oh! Make sure you have enough cash (there are no ATM in the town)
