Situated 31 miles from the Belize City, it was established in 1984 as a small educational zoo that has now developed in a great nature center covering an area of 29 acres with over 150 animals of 45 species inhabiting the territory of Belize zoo. Ocelots, jaguars, pumas, vultures and spider monkeys are just few to name. All of them are native animals that, unlike in most of the zoos, are not kept behind the bars, but live in a quite natural environment. The entrance fee in Belize zoo is $15 for adults, $5 for children.
