Attractions & Things to do in Mansura, Louisiana

One of the first things you’ll notice about Louisiana is how friendly the people are. Not only are they willing to help direct you to various tourist attractions in or near the city, they make for great friends too. Aside from that, your concern should first include accommodations of which there are some beautiful choices. The Honeysuckle Bed & Breakfast is the first one that leaps to mind when you think of charm, peace and that infamous Southern hospitality.

For those of you who have a flair for golf, consider the Casino Golf Cabins for a fun stay. Then again, there’s always quaint La Maison Rose Bed & Breakfast to check out, among many another option. You can’t come to Louisiana without preparing your palate for some of that signature Southern cuisine. Bernard Cajun Sea-Fry Restaurant at Cottonport is one of the most memorable. Also check out Chicken Palace, Nanny’s Restaurant and Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits. The food is to die for in all these places and let’s not forget the other options available here at Mansura.

Mansura is a quiet town, so you can expect all the fun to be on the outskirts. Like the Alexandria Zoo situated 29 miles out of town in, well, Alexandria. If you desire another zoo experience, you have the Zoo of Acadiana in Broussard, 66 miles outside Mansura. With well maintained habitats and a great collection of animals, you sure will have a blast.
23 miles outside Mansura sits the Chicot State Park in Saint Landry, which is simply paradisiacal. Don’t forget to see and photograph Woodriff Falls in Saint Francisville, about 42 miles outside town. And the Bayou Teche Brewery in Arnaudville is a must-see location as well, built 47 miles outside Mansura.

All in all, Mansura has some of the most scenic spots in the State of Louisiana. From well maintained woodlands to lovely open meadows, you can imagine the peace and quiet such a city like Mansura promises. You can learn a lot about the land and its history in places like Red River State Wildlife Management Area. It stands about 21 miles from the city, in Acme. Then there’s Alexander State Forest in Woodworth, 27 miles outside town, where ‘picturesque’ becomes an understatement.

As you’ll probably be imagining right about now, Nature and all things natural is more in focus here in Mansura than anything hip and happening. If you’re the type of person who’s interested in some quiet time so you can think about stuff in the comfort of a calm clean environment, or if you have that book or some other project that needs completing, few cities have what you need. Mansura is one of them.
