Anuta Island, Solomon Islands
A very small, unique island, Anuta, is one of the world’s most isolated communities. The locals like to call their island ‘te fatu sekeseke’ or ‘the slippery stone’ due to its miniature size (half a mile diameter).
Anuta Island Trivia
Less than 300 people inhabit this island that is the smallest one among the all inhabited Polynesian islands. Even though Christianity has been established in the island, the ancient traditions still have a major impact on the life of the Annutans. Only several scientists visit them from time to time. Very few of the islanders leave the island to make some money. The rest of them live in a close community with specific social habits and rules.
