How to get to Aberdare National Park

The Park is located about 180 kms from the capital city Nairobi in Kenya. You can reach the Park conveniently by road. Buses and matatu are available from the capital city to reach Nyeri, which is close proximity to the Park. It takes around half an hour to reach the Park from Nyeri.

With a diverse topography, Aberdare National Park attracts tourists from all over the world. It covers around 767 square meters. You can see streams, rivers, lush grasslands, rainforests and bamboo forest in the Park. The park contains V-shaped valleys that are interconnected by cascading waterfalls, murmuring rivers and beautiful streams.

You can easily spot a range of wild animals, including African Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Eland, African hunting dog, Side striped Jackal, Mountain Reedbuck, Cape buffalo and Sykes monkey in Aberdare Park. The Park is the habitat of numerous Black Rhinos. It is a heaven for bird watchers. More than 250 species of birds reside in the Aberdare Park, which include Sunbirds, Aberdare Cisticola, Sparry hawk, Eagles and Plovers.

Aberdare National Park is an excellent place for picnicking. It boasts of various accommodation options, from luxurious hotels to Treetop lodges. The lodges are one of the major attractions of this park. The lodges built above the ground nearby waterholes and saltlicks offer excellent view of animals like Elephants, Buffaloes and Lions that come to drink water.

Staying in the Park would offer plenty of opportunities, including night-time wildlife viewing, trout fishing and camping in the moorlands.  The Park offers an exquisite opportunity of sharing space with wild animals. It lets you join hands with nature and enjoy a memorable vacation.
